We are proud to partner with Parenting Special Children

Parenting Special Children (PSC) is a local Berkshire based charity providing specialist support services to families of children and young people with special needs and disabilities. Set up over 17 years ago, the charity has supported over 14,000 professionals, parents and children.

The families’ PSC support are classed as ‘vulnerable’ either because they have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities or they have special needs due to early life trauma and are a child in care or an adopted child.

Statistics show their families are twice as likely to experience behaviour that is challenging which has a significant impact on the whole family, and relationships between couples and siblings. Their families face numerous adversities including suicidal thoughts, financial pressures, social isolation, sleep issues, poor mental health, low self-esteem and child to parent violence.

Parenting Children’s Services include a dedicated Helpline, Sleep, Trauma (incl, adopter, foster and kinship), Specialist workshops, Support Groups, One to One Support for families facing complex adversities, Family Events, Training for Professionals, Transition to Adulthood and Social Interaction groups for Neurodiverse children and young people. After accessing PSC's support, families feel less isolated and more confident to support their children. The charity empowers families, helping them to face multiple adversities, creating long lasting and resilient positive change, 'Prevention before Crisis'.
